WACO, Texas -- The No. 4 seed Oklahoma State equestrian hunter seat team rolled to a 5-3 victory over the No. 5 seed Texas A&M Aggies in the quarterfinals of the Varsity Equestrian National Championships at the Extraco Events Center in Waco, Texas on Friday.
"The flat riders did a good job of just being grounded and settled and executing our plan," coach Suzanne Flaig said. "They came in with the right mindset and that set up well for the fences."
Ellie Sparks kicked off the day with a 128-123 victory in equitation on the flat. Jordan White defeated her Aggie counterpart 142-137 as the two teams split the discipline by way of a 2-2 tie.
The Pokes took three out of four in equitation over fences to clinch the overall victory. Alice White won the first matchup, 149-141 to give the Pokes an early advantage. Erin Prutow earned a 116-80 victory and Sammy Elser added a 141-76 win to lock up the team victory.
