Cowgirls Lose Two in Oklahoma City

OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. (OSU Athletics In the first game of the day the Cowgirls fell to No. 24 Auburn (17-1) by a score of 4-3. Oklahoma State scored all three of its runs in the first inning. Senior Mariah Gearhart led the inning off with a bunt single. She advanced to third on a double by freshman Ari Morrison. They both would score as Alysia Hamilton hit a grounder to the first baseman and she overthrew the catcher. Hamilton would later score on a single through the left side by Chelsea Garcia.
The Tigers' first three runs of the game were unearned and a result of Cowgirl errors and an illegal pitch. The winning run came in the fourth inning when Caitlin Stangl reached on a bunt single, stole second and scored on a double from Morgan Estell.
Simone Freeman started in the circle for the Cowgirls and threw three innings, gave up three hits for no earned runs, struck out three and walked none. Kat Espinosa took over in the fourth, gave up two hits for one earned run, struck out three and walked none. She picked up her first loss of the season.
Jenee Loree picked up the win for the Tigers after allowing five hits for three earned runs, struck out 10 and walked one. She is 4-1 on the season.
Oklahoma State faced No. 10 Oklahoma (16-5) in the night game and lost by a score of 7-0. OU scored one in the first inning off a bases loaded walk. In the second inning, Jessica Shults cleared the bases with a double that went to the right field wall. Shults got two more RBIs in the fourth when she hit a deep ball over the right field fence.
Espinosa picked up her second loss and is now 8-2. She threw two innings, gave up six hits for five earned runs, struck out three and walked four. Freeman threw the final five innings, gave up three hits for two earned runs, struck out six and walked two.
Keilani Ricketts threw the complete game for the Sooners and is now 9-2. She gave up three hits for no runs, struck out 10 and walked one.
OSU will face Auburn tomorrow at 11 a.m. in Stillwater.
