IRVING, Texas – Oklahoma State's Brad Propst has been named the Big 12 Conference Pitcher of the Week for games played March 21-27, it was announced today by the league office.
A senior from Amarillo, Texas, Propst pitched the second complete game of his career to lead OSU to a 3-1 win over No. 4 Texas last Saturday. The right-hander allowed just one run on seven hits while striking out six and not issuing a walk against the Longhorns.
Propst took a shutout into the ninth inning after allowing just four hits over the first eight innings. He also retired the side in order in four of the game's first eight innings. With his effort, Propst notched his team-leading fourth win of the season as he improved to 4-1 on the year.
The Big 12 honors a player, pitcher and newcomer of the week every Monday during the regular season. The awards are voted on by a panel of media who cover the conference. This marks the third conference weekly award for a Cowboy player this season as Gabe Weidenaar (March 7) and Chris Marlowe (March 14) earned Big 12 Newcomer of the Week honors earlier this month.
