Cowgirls Win Two Matches

NORMAN, Okla. – Oklahoma State won a pair of spring exhibition matches Saturday as the Cowgirls knocked off Tulsa, 2-0, before topping Oral Roberts by a 3-0 margin.
With the wins, OSU improved to 7-0-1 on the spring season. The Cowgirls have recorded shutouts in five of their eight matches.
The Cowgirls took an early lead against TU when Taylor Mathews scored off an assist from Megan Marchesano. Mathews added her second goal of the match in the final half, and All-American goalkeeper AD Franch recorded the shutout.
In the second contest, Annika Niemeier got the scoring started with an unassisted goal in the first half. The Cowgirls took the 1-0 lead into intermission before Kristen Kelley recorded a pair of second-half goals, getting assists from Niemeier and Marchesano.
Keely Kippenberger notched the shutout in goal against the Golden Eagles.
OSU returns to spring action April 9 when the Cowgirls host SMU and Central Oklahoma.
