Gundy A National Coach of the Year Finalist

STILLWATER, Okla. - After leading Oklahoma State to its first Big 12 title and first-ever BCS bowl appearance, head coach Mike Gundy is one of five finalists for the 2011 Eddie Robinson Coach of the Year Award, it was announced today. This is the second straight season that Gundy is a finalist for this award.
The other finalists are Michigan's Brady Hoke, LSU's Les Miles, Kansas State's Bill Snyder and Clemson's Dabo Swinney. The winner will be announced on Dec. 15.
What Gundy has done at his alma mater is nothing short of remarkable. The 2010 Big 12 Coach of the Year, Gundy has led OSU to a 20-5 record in conference play since the start of the 2009 season, good for the best mark in the league during that span. He has either matched or improved the Cowboys' Big 12 win total every year since being named head coach in 2005.
Dating back to the start of the 2008 season, Gundy has led the Cowboys to 40 overall victories, which is the eighth-highest total in the nation during that time.
He has coached winners of the Biletnikoff, Ray Guy and Lou Groza Awards and has had OSU consistently among the national leaders in offense since 2007. Perhaps most remarkably, he has done so with four different people calling offensive plays in those five seasons.
Gundy and the Cowboys face Stanford at the Tostitos Fiesta Bowl on Jan. 2.
