STILLWATER, Okla. - Former Oklahoma State head football coach Pat Jones has been elected into the Gator Bowl Hall of Fame.
Jones will be inducted into the 2011 HOF Class along with ex-Michigan wide receiver Anthony Carter and former Gator Bowl Association head Bill Nimnicht Sr. at the CSX Coaches Luncheon and Hall of Fame ceremony on Dec. 31.
"This award is a reflection of all the hard work put in by the players and coaches of that era," said Jones, who is the winningest coach in OSU history with 62 victories in 11 seasons in Stillwater and is the only Cowboy coach to reach 10 wins in a season three times.
Jones led OSU to back-to-back Gator Bowl appearances in 1984 and 1985. The Cowboys won the first of those games with a 21-14 triumph over South Carolina, a win that gave OSU 10 victories for the first time in school history. The following year, Jones' team lost to Florida State, 34-23.
