Weeden Highlights Academic All-Big 12 Team

STILLWATER, Okla. - Oklahoma State quarterback Brandon Weeden added another honor to his resume when he headlined the 2011 Academic All-Big 12 team that was announced Thursday. Weeden was one of six Cowboys to earn a spot on the all-academic first team and was one of nine OSU players to be recognized on either the first or second team.
A marketing graduate who earned his degree before the season, Weeden is joined on the league's all-academic first team by receiver Isaiah Anderson, defensive end Jamie Blatnick, linebacker Caleb Lavey, receiver Charlie Moore and long snapper Connor Sinko. The requirement for first-team accolades is maintaining a grade-point average higher than 3.20.
Offensive lineman Parker Graham, safety Deion Imade and linebacker Teddy Johnson were all second-team honorees with grade-point averages ranging from 3.00 to 3.19.
To qualify, student-athletes must maintain a 3.00 GPA or higher either cumulative or the two previous semesters and must have participated in 60 percent of their team's scheduled contests. Freshmen and transfers are not eligible in their first year of academic residence. Senior student-athletes who have participated for a minimum of two years and meet all the criteria except percent of participation are also eligible.
