STILLWATER, Okla. - Oklahoma State senior defensive end Jamie Blatnick has been named the Big 12 Defensive Player of the Week, the conference announced today.
Blatnick helped lead the sixth-ranked Cowboys to a 38-26 victory against the No. 22 Texas Longhorns in Austin on Saturday. He recorded a career-high nine tackles, including four tackles for loss, which is tied for the most tackles for loss by a Big 12 player this season.
Blatnick also helped to disrupt the passing game of Texas, as he sacked Longhorn quarterback David Ash twice and recorded a pass break up. The two sacks bring his season total to five.
It is the first conference player of the week honor in Blatnick's career and the fourth time this season a Cowboy has earned Big 12 Player of the Week honors.
