:: With the win, Oklahoma State improved to 37-27 all time under sixth-year head coach Mike Gundy. OSU is 5-1 in season openers under Gundy and is now 16-4 in regular-season, non-conference games under his leadership.
:: OSU is now 2-2 in the all-time series against Washington State and has won the last two meetings.
:: The Cowboys have now won 15-straight home openers dating back to 1995, the longest streak in school history, and they are 76-28-5 all time in home openers.
:: OSU also improved to 64-40-5 all time in season openers, and the Cowboys are 5-1 in season openers under Gundy.
:: The Cowboys' 65-point effort was OSU's highest point total in a season-opening game in the modern era. The previous best was a 59-point outburst against Wichita State to open the 1974 season. Prior to that, the previous-best point total to open a season came in 1916, when Oklahoma A&M scored 90 in a win over Northwestern (Okla.).
:: Serving as Oklahoma State captains for today's game were linebacker Orie Lemon and running backs Kendall Hunter and Bryant Ward.
:: Thirteen players made their first-career starts for the Cowboys today - seven on offense and six on defense. Among those were nine juniors, three seniors and one freshman.
:: In addition, 22 Cowboys appeared in their first-ever game for OSU - 12 true freshmen, nine redshirt freshmen and one senior.
:: Senior running back Kendall Hunter moved into the top 10 on OSU's career rushing list. With 2,890 career rushing yards, Hunter now ranks eighth all time.
:: Hunter also moved into the top 10 on OSU's career rushing touchdown list, where his 25 rushing scores rank seventh. Adding to Hunter's moves up the all-time charts, he is now tied for 17th in scoring at OSU with 162 points.
:: With 257 rushing yards today, Hunter notched the 12th 100-yard rushing game of his career. That total ranks as the 10th most in OSU history.
:: Hunter's 257 rushing yards set a career high, eclipsing his previous best of 210 vs. Houston on Sept. 6, 2008.
:: Hunter also set a career mark with four rushing touchdowns after having a previous high of two six times. The school mark for rushing TDs in a game is five, set by Barry Sanders twice in 1988.
:: Hunter racked up 208 rushing yards in the first half, the most by a Cowboy since Barry Sanders had 217 in the opening half against Kansas in 1988.
:: Sophomore Justin Blackmon's 42-yard touchdown reception in the second quarter marked the longest catch of his career.
:: With three touchdown grabs against the Cougars, Blackmon surpassed his total from his freshman season in 2009.
:: Blackmon finished with 125 receiving yards, besting his previous career high of 45 set in last year's Cotton Bowl against Ole Miss.
:: Of OSU's nine scoring drives vs. WSU, six spanned less than two minutes.
:: Junior defensive end Richetti Jones set career highs with seven tackles and two sacks, topping his previous bests of three stops (vs. Grambling State in 2009) and 1.5 sacks (vs. Texas A&M in 2009).
