Moscow, Russia--Former Oklahoma State wrestler Obe Blanc won a pair of matches at the FILA Senior Freestyle World Championships in Moscow, Russia before being eliminated in the quarterfinals of the 55 kilogram weight class by Yasuhiro Inaba of Japan Friday.
Blanc started his day with a 2-0, 1-0 win over Sezar Akgul of Turkey. He followed that up with a 1-0, 3-0 shutout victory over Switzerland's Urs Wild. On a roll after winning his first two matches, Blanc won the first period of his quarterfinal bout with Inaba, 2-0 and led 2-0 in the second period before getting taken down and turned to his back. Inaba recorded the fall with nine seconds left in the period.
Blanc earned his spot on the U.S. senior freestyle world team in June after beating former NCAA champion Angel Escobedo at the world team trials in Council Bluffs, Iowa.
