STILLWATER, Okla. - Oklahoma State quarterback Zac Robinson was chosen by the New England Patriots with the 43rd pick of the seventh round of the NFL Draft. Robinson was the 250th overall pick.
Robinson wrapped up his career as Oklahoma State's career record holder in total offense with 10,175 yards, passing yards with 8,317 yards, touchdown passes with 66 and completion percentage with a 61.2 mark.
He was one of four Cowboys chosen in this year's draft, joining offensive lineman Russell Okung (sixth overall pick to the Seattle Seahawks), receiver Dez Bryant (24th overall pick to the Dallas Cowboys) and cornerback Perrish Cox (137th overall pick to the Denver Broncos).
During his time in Stillwater, Robinson played on four bowl teams and was one of the leaders of an OSU squad that posted back-to-back nine-win seasons in 2008 and 2009. Robinson was at the forefront of the Cowboy attack as they were ranked in the top 10 nationally in both his junior and senior seasons.
Robinson enjoyed his finest season in 2008, when he completed 204-of-314 passes for 3,064 yards and 25 touchdowns. He added 562 yards rushing as well. Robinson exploded on the scene as a sophomore in 2007, completing 201-of-333 passes for 2,824 yards with 23 touchdowns and adding 847 yards rushing. Making those numbers even more impressive is the fact that Robinson didn't even open the season as the starting quarterback. He was one of only three quarterbacks in the nation to pass for 2,500 or more yards and rush for 800 or more yards that season.
While Robinson's collegiate numbers were impressive, the fact that he led the Cowboys to one of the best four-year stretches in school history may be his lasting legacy in Stillwater. OSU was unranked nationally for five consecutive seasons, but with Robinson at quarterback his junior year, the Pokes ascended to new heights and took the field as a ranked team in each of Robinson's final 22 games.
