Cowboys Fall to Texas, 69-59

Austin, Texas - Oklahoma State scored just 24 points in the second half after trailing by two at halftime, and the Cowboys dropped a Big 12 road game at Texas 69-59 here Wednesday night at the Erwin Events Center.
Senior Obi Muonelo and junior James Anderson each scored 14 points for the Cowboys, who were 8-of-22 from beyond the three-point arc. However, the Pokes committed 28 foulds and 16 turnovers, leading to a 36-12 edge by the Longhorns from the free-throw line.
OSU took a four-point lead just 4:48 into the game and led by four at 18-14 with 12:39 left in the first half. The game went back and forth with 12 lead changes and four ties in the first period alone. Texas took a two-point lead on a free-throw by Dexter Pittman, one of his 16 points, and led 37-35 at intermission.
The 'Horns went on a 5-0 run to start the second half and the Cowboys trailed 42-35 just three minutes into the second stanza. Four-straight points by the Pokes cut the lead to two at 44-42 with 13:12 to play. But, Texas went on a 7-0 run and scored 14 points to OSU's two over a six-minute span to take its largest lead of the game at 58-44.
Oklahoma State made it interesting, cutting the lead down to seven at 64-57 with 2:14 left, but it was too little, too late as the Longhorns 5-of-8 from the line down the stretch.
The Cowboys, now 19-8 overall and 7-6 in Big 12 play, will host top-ranked Kansas on Saturday, Feb. 27, at 3 p.m. inside Gallagher-Iba Arena.
