LITTLE ROCK, Ark. - The Oklahoma State soccer team opened its spring season Saturday with a pair of games in Little Rock, finishing with a win and a tie.
In the first game of the day, the Cowgirls squared off against Ole Miss in a hard fought game that ended in a 1-1 tie. Ole Miss came out scoring first and led for the first half. OSU answered in the second half with sophomore Melinda Mercado heading the ball into the back of the net off a Megan Marchesano free kick to tie the game.
Neither team could find the back of the net for the rest of the game.
The Cowgirls then faced off against Memphis in the second game of the day and came away with a 3-2 win.
Sophomore Krista Lopez came out and scored a goal early off an assist from sophomore Kyndall Treadwell. Memphis answered late in the half to tie the game 1-1 at halftime.
Memphis scored early in the second half to lead the game 2-1, but OSU came back to win the game 3-2 with Lopez recording her second goal of the game and junior Annika Niemeier adding to the score.
The Cowgirls will return to action February 27 when they take on Texas Tech and TCU in Austin, Texas.
