Coach John Smith
On tonight's win over Binghamton
“We were a little slow. In a few matches, we appeared to be a little bit nonchalant at times but in other matches, we looked really good. I thought 133 and 141 was a solid effort. I thought 157 was good. Obviously, 197 and heavyweight finished it out for us. It's definitely something we can take and utilize for Sunday's Bedlam match.”
On the Bedlam dual after tonight's performance
“We'll have to wrestle, obviously, a little bit better. If we wrestle up to our capability, it's going to be a fun day for us. The key is to make sure we continue to wrestle hard and continue to focus on scoring points.”
On Jordan Oliver's hot streak as of late
“He's wrestled well. He's hit some lower wrestlers in the country. Probably the last three or four matches, it's been guys that aren't going to make it to nationals. What's important is that he's picking up those bonus points, I love those bonus points he's getting. He's getting turns. He's aggressive. He's putting points on the board. He's really buying in to what we're trying to teach. Overall, it's starting to feel a little bit dominating in his matches and confident when he's going out.”
On the importance of the crowd against Oklahoma on Sunday
“Bedlam is going to be a tough match. Both teams are very good this year, definitely a lot better. The last match in Norman was a 16-16 tie and we're definitely not looking for a tie. It's the last match of the year. We've got several seniors leaving the program after this year. Jared Rosholt is the top name there and Chris Notte, of course; also Tyler Shinn and Kevin Wainscott. It's a good group of kids and definitely would like to see a win for them in their last match in Gallagher-Iba Arena.”
OSU 133-pounder Jordan Oliver
On the match as a whole...
“I think we came out and performed the way we should have. I think some of the matches could have gone better. Everybody wrestled well though, attacked and did what they were supposed to do.”
On his individual match...
“I go out every match just trying to put points on the board. My style is to attack and keep scoring and if my opponents aren't wrestling, I just keep attacking and keep scoring. I keep pressure on the guys and keep the action going.”
On going into Bedlam Sunday...
“I think we are a way more improved team than we were back when we first wrestled OU. I think that if we wrestle to our potential, that it could be a way different dual this time. You never know what to expect, but our team has improved so much that we can go into this dual pretty confident.”
On his first Bedlam dual in Stillwater
“The first time at Bedlam I was really excited. It's the biggest rivalry for OSU in the Big 12. Now it's back here in Stillwater and I am just ready to give the Cowboy fans a show and beat OU pretty bad.”
