STILLWATER, Okla. – Oklahoma State's national champion Cowboy cross country team will be recognized during the first media timeout of the first half at tonight's Big Monday showdown with Texas in Gallagher-Iba Arena.
On Nov. 23, the Cowboys earned the second cross country national championship in school history and first since 1954. The national title marked OSU's 49th NCAA Championship in all sports, a number that leads the Big 12 and is fourth nationally.
The Cowboys finished 16 team points ahead of second-place and defending national champion Oregon. OSU was ranked No. 2 behind 10th-place Stanford for the majority of the season, including the week leading up to the NCAA Championships.
After leading the Cowboys to their second-consecutive Big 12 championship, fifth-consecutive regional championship and the national title, OSU coach Dave Smith was named the Big 12, Midwest region and national coach of the year.
