STILLWATER, Okla. – Oklahoma State's Justin Blackmon and Kendall Hunter have been named to the 2010 Walter Camp All-America Team, it was announced tonight by the Walter Camp Football Foundation.
Blackmon and Hunter become the 12th and 13th OSU players to earn Walter Camp All-America status. The Walter Camp All-America team is the oldest All-America team in collegiate football and the second team to honor Blackmon and Hunter in 2010, as the Cowboy duo was also named to the AFCA All-America team Nov. 29.
Hunter, a senior running back, is the ninth two-time All-American in OSU history, joining Bob Fenimore, Terry Miller, Leslie O'Neal, Mark Moore, Thurman Thomas, Barry Sanders, Rashaun Woods and Perrish Cox as two-time Cowboy All-Americans.
A native of Tyler, Texas, Hunter finished the regular season with 1,516 rushing yards and ranks seventh nationally and first in the Big 12 Conference with 126.3 rushing yards per game. He has surpassed the 100-yard rushing mark in nine games this season and the 200-yard mark twice.
Hunter ranks third all-time at OSU with 20 100-yard rushing games, third all-time at OSU with three 200-yard rushing games and fourth all-time at OSU with 4,049 career rushing yards.
A sophomore wide receiver who was named the Big 12 Offensive Player of the Year, Blackmon caught 102 passes for 1,665 yards and 18 touchdowns in 11 games during the 2010 regular season; he also added a pair of scores with a 69-yard run and a blocked punt return. He sits atop the national charts in receiving yards per game (151.4) and receptions per game (9.3), ranks fourth in points per game (10.9) and is ninth in all-purpose yards per game (159).
Blackmon is tied for the NCAA record for most consecutive games with at least 100 receiving yards and a touchdown catch (11), and he is already assured of the 15th-best statistical season by a receiver in NCAA history.
A native of Ardmore, Okla. Blackmon could continue to rewrite the record books in the upcoming Alamo Bowl. He needs just eight receiving yards to break Larry Fitzgerald's NCAA record for receiving yards by a sophomore, 31 receiving yards to break Rashaun Woods' OSU record for single-season receiving yards, six catches to break Woods' school record for single-season catches and two touchdown grabs to break Dez Bryant's school record for single-season touchdown catches.
