STILLWATER, Okla. - Several members of the Oklahoma State football team are teaming up with Samaritan's Purse this holiday season to provide gifts and supplies to children in need of a helping hand as part of Operation Christmas Child.
The Cowboy players each made individual choices as to if they were going to provide for a boy or a girl, then filled their respective boxes with age and gender-specific gifts or supplies. Numerous players participated, including several of OSU's most prominent players like Justin Blackmon and Kendall Hunter.
"Whenever we can do anything to help out the community, it's something we look forward to," Hunter said. "Not everybody has things that we take for granted so it's important to keep those people in mind, especially during the holidays."
Among the most popular gifts that the OSU players provided were toys such as small cars, balls, dolls, stuffed animals, etc.; school supplies such as pens, pencils, crayons, etc.; hygiene items such as toothbrushes, toothpaste, soap, combs, etc. and clothing items.
Many of the OSU players also included personal notes as part of the package.
