Weeden Named Finalist For Manning Award

NEW ORLEANS - Oklahoma State junior quarterback Brandon Weeden has been named one of 10 finalists for the Manning Award. The award was created by the Allstate Sugar Bowl in honor of the college football accomplishments of Archie, Peyton and Eli Manning. It is the only quarterback award that takes the candidates' bowl performances into consideration in its balloting.
Weeden is the only finalist from the Big 12 Conference. He has enjoyed a record breaking 2010 in his first year as Oklahoma State's starting quarterback. He has set OSU single-season records for passing yards (4,037), total offense (3,969) and touchdown passes (32). He enters the bowl game second in the country in passing yards per game (336.4), second in total passing yards (4,037), and No. 16 in passing efficiency (156.53).
Weeden joins Andy Dalton from TCU, Colin Kaepernick of Nevada, Andrew Luck from Stanford, Ryan Mallett of Arkansas, Kellen Moore from Boise State, Cameron Newton of Auburn, Terrelle Pryor of Ohio State, Denard Robinson from Michigan and Oregon's Darron Thomas as finalists.
The winner will be announced on Jan. 19.
