IRVING, Texas – Oklahoma State freshman Justin Gilbert has been named the final 2010 Big 12 Special Teams Player of the Week, the league announced today.
Gilbert returned six kickoffs for 195 yards against Oklahoma, including a dramatic 89-yard return for a touchdown with 2:51 remaining that pulled the Cowboys within two points of the Sooners.
Oklahoma State athletes earned nine conference player of the week honors in 2010, more than any other Big 12 school. The Cowboys received four offensive, two defensive and three special teams awards and have earned one in each of the last four weeks.
Gilbert, a first-year player from Huntsville, Texas, is the only true freshman to receive the Big 12 player of the week honor this season.
