Cowboy Golf Signs Two

STILLWATER, Okla. - Oklahoma State's men's golf team has signed a pair of players to National Letters of Intent it was announced today by head coach Mike McGraw. Tanner Kesterson and Colton Staggs both inked with the Cowboys and will join the program for the 2011-12 campaign.
"We are very excited about both Tanner and Colton. Tanner continues a long standing tradition of Dallas players to become a Cowboy," McGraw said. "I have always made it a goal of mine to have young men from Oklahoma on the team whenever possible. Colton is a great addition to our team."
Kesterson, a native of Plano, Texas, earned first-team AJGA All-America honors this past year after winning the prestigious FootJoy Invitational and tying for seventh at the Rolex Tournament of Champions. His victory earned him an exemption into the PGA Tour's Wyndham Championship where he posted rounds of 72 and 74. In July, he was a member of the victorious West Team at the Canon Cup.
The Prestonwood Christian Academy product enjoyed an impressive 2009 campaign that saw him earn top 10s in six of his seven AJGA starts, including a victory at the Stars of Texas Junior. For his efforts, Kesterson was named an honorable mention All-American.
A Tulsa, Okla., native, Staggs has been competing in AJGA events since 2006 and has logged five top-five finishes during that time. In 2005, he tied for fifth at the Payne Stewart Junior Championship. Staggs followed with three top fives in 2008, finishing fourth at the Stars of Texas Junior before placing third at both the Bob Estes Abilene Junior and the Arkansas Junior at Blessings.
In 2009, Staggs won the 2009 Oklahoma Golf Association State Amateur Championship and was runner-up at the AJGA's Scissortail Junior Championship. As a sophomore at Jenks High School, Staggs won seven tournaments and has finished in the top 10 at the Class 6A state tournament each of the past two seasons.
