STILLWATER, Okla. – Oklahoma State kicker Dan Bailey is one of 20 semifinalists for the Lou Groza Collegiate Place-Kicker Award, it was announced today by the Palm Beach County Sports Commission.
Bailey leads all kickers on that list with 86 points scored this year, a figure with ranks him second nationally among all players, trailing only teammate Justin Blackmon. He is a perfect 15-of-15 on field goal attempts, including two 52-yarders and seven field goals of 40 yards or longer. He provided a signature moment when he nailed a 40-yarder as time expired to lift the Cowboys to a 38-35 win over Texas A&M in front of a national television audience on Sept. 30.
He is also perfect on extra points, converting on each of his 41 attempts this season. A senior from Mustang, Okla., Bailey has not missed a PAT in his collegiate career, as he is 172-for-172 since arriving in Stillwater.
The list of 20 semifinalists will be trimmed down to three finalists, who will be honored at the Lou Groza Collegiate Place-Kicker Awards Banquet on Dec. 7 in West Palm Beach, Fla. The winner will be announced live on the nationally-televised Home Depot ESPNU College Football Awards Show on the evening of December 9, 2010.
