STILLWATER, Okla. - Oklahoma State heavyweight Alan Gelogaev will compete at the NWCA All-Star Classic in Fresno, Calif., on Nov. 21. He will take on No. 2 Jarod Trice of Central Michigan at the event.
A returning All-American, Trice spent the summer training in freestyle and Greco-Roman, winning both styles at the University Nationals. Gelogaev, or "Z" as he's popularly known, trained in his more comfortable freestyle and was a workout partner for the U.S. World Team. The Cowboy junior beefed up from 197 pounds, where he was an All-American last year in his first full collegiate season.
Trice went 27-5 en route to an eighth-place finish at the 2010 NCAA Division I Championships. Adapting to American folkstyle wrestling, Gelogaev went 30-9 with eight falls at 197 pounds and finished seventh at the NCAA Championships. He'll be moving up to heavyweight for the 2010-11 season.
The 45th Annual NWCA All-Star Classic Presented by The Marines will be held at the Selland Arena in Fresno, California on Sunday, November 21, 2010. The doors open at 2:00 p.m. The All-Star Classic follows a weekend of fundraising events.
