IRVING, Texas – Oklahoma State receiver Justin Blackmon has been named the Big 12 Offensive Football Player of the Week today for his career-best performance in the Cowboy's 34-17 win over Texas Tech, the conference announced.
Blackmon, who receives the award for the first time, set a career high in receiving yards for the second consecutive week with 207 on 10 catches, including a 62-yard touchdown reception to help seal the win for the Cowboys.
That performance comes on the heels of a 190-yard receiving day against Louisiana-Lafayette last week. Blackmon leads the nation in receiving yards per game (159.2), touchdown receptions (12), and is tied for the NCAA lead in scoring (13 ppg).
He set a school record in Lubbock with his sixth straight 100-yard receiving game. He has at least one touchdown catch in every game this season for the longest streak by a Cowboy since Hart Lee Dykes had a TD catch in eight straight games in 1988. He also has at least 125 yards in every game this year.
Blackmon is the fifth OSU recipient of the conference player of the week honor this season. The sophomore joins Kendall Hunter, Brandon Weeden, Ugo Chinasa and Dan Bailey as OSU Big 12 Players of the Week this season.
