Oklahoma State Postgame Notes vs Texas Tech Red Raiders Saturday, October 16, 2010
• Oklahoma State ended a 66-year drought with a 34-17 win over Texas Tech in Lubbock this afternoon. The last Cowboys' victory over the Red Raiders in Lubbock was Oct. 7, 1944, when OSU defeated Tech 14-7. The Cowboys were 0-9-2 during that span.
• Oklahoma State is 6-0 for the fourth time in school history and the second time in the last three seasons.
• With a 15-yard touchdown run by Kendall Hunter in the first quarter, the senior running back has now scored 198 points in his career, moving past Dez Bryant (194 points) and Lawson Vaughn (197) and into 11th place on the career scoring list at OSU.
• His 17-yard run near the end of the third quarter moved Hunter past Tatum Bell and into sixth place on the career rushing yards list. His 130 yards this afternoon give him 3,463 career rushing yards. He also surpassed 100 rushing yards for the 16th time in his four-year career.
• Justin Blackmon's 62-yard TD reception just over five minutes into the third quarter is the second-longest by the Cowboys this season. Brandon Weeden also connected with Blackmon on an 81-yard scoring pass against Tulsa. The sophomore receiver has four TD catches of 40 yards or more this season.
• That 62-yard catch and run by Blackmon put him over 100 yards for the sixth-straight game this season. It was also his sixth-consecutive game with a TD reception, the longest streak since 1988 when Hart Lee Dykes had an eight-game streak to end the year, including the Holiday Bowl.
• Blackmon finished the game with 207 receiving yards, a career high. His previous high was 190 yards set last week at Louisiana. It's also the first time a Cowboy has gone over the 200-yard receiving mark since Dez Bryant had 212 yards against Baylor in 2008. It is the eighth 200-yard receiving game in OSU history.
• With 356 total passing yards, Weeden has gone over the 300-yard mark in four games this season. His total ranks as the eighth-most in a single game in school history.
• With 10 points against the Red Raiders today, Dan Bailey moved past Larry Roach and into third place on the OSU career scoring list. The senior kicker now has 296 Points.
• With two field goals today against Tech, Bailey has now made 13 straight and 21 of his last 22.
• With 17 tackles, linebacker Orie Lemon established a career high and has recorded double-digit tackles in three games this season.
• Sophomore WR Tracy Moore established a personal career high with 55 yards.
• Joseph Randle scored his first-career TD as a Cowboy with a four-yard scoring run at the 7:44 mark of the first quarter.
• For the sixth time this season, Oklahoma State's defense kept an opponent from scoring on their first possession of the game. The opposition has four punts, one fumble and one interception on the opening drive this season.
• Oklahoma State's 8-play, 82-yard drive for a touchdown near the end of the first quarter is the third-longest drive by yards this season.
• Oklahoma State's move down the field for a 35-yard field goal with 0:17 remaining before intermission marks the Cowboys' longest scoring drive by both plays (14) and time (5:37) this season.
• Texas Tech's 1-yard touchdown run at the 11:04 mark of the second quarter is the latest that an OSU opponent has scored in a game this season. Washington State scored a field goal with 13:08 remaining in the half in the first game of the season.
• Bront Bird's interception of a Brandon Weeden pass on OSU's first drive of the third quarter marked the first time this season that the Cowboys have failed to score on their opening drive of the second half.
• Oklahoma State's team captains for today's game were: #50 junior DE Jamie Blatnick, #81 sophomore WR Justin Blackmon and #95 senior K Dan Bailey.
