Cowboys Wrap Up Non-Conference Play

Stillwater, Okla. — James Anderson scored a game-high 26 points and Keiton Page connected on 5-of-10 three-point attempts and 20 points as Oklahoma State's men's basketball team wrapped up the non-conference portion of its schedule with a 79-61 win over Coppin State here Tuesday night.
With his 26 points, Anderson moved past JamesOn Curry and into 14th place on the OSU career scoring list. The Cowboy junior also grabbed six rebounds, dished out four assists and recorded four steals in one of his most complete games of the season.
Oklahoma State began the game on a 17-3 run when Page scored a conventional three-point play just 8-1/2 minutes into the game. The Pokes may have been celebrating too soon, though as the Eagles went on an 11-0 run of their own when Sam Coleman scored three of his 13 points on a basket and one of his own.
After taking a 10-point lead into the locker room at 41-31, the Cowboys outscored CSU 12-4 over a span of 4-1/2 minutes to start the second period for a 53-35 lead. Oklahoma State led by as many as 22 in the game.
The Cowboys dished out a season-high 21 assists on 29 field goals in the game, including a team-high five by freshman Ray Penn, who came off the bench after suffering through an illness the last two days. Along with Page and freshman Fred Gulley, the guard trio had 10 assists and just two turnovers.
Oklahoma State also recorded a season-high 11 steals and connected on 10 three-pointers for the second-straight game.
The Cowboys, now 12-2 on the season, will open Big 12 Conference play against the 23rd-ranked Texas Tech Red Raiders on Saturday, Jan. 9, at 7 p.m. inside Gallagher-Iba Arena.
