OLYMPIA FIELDS, Ill. - Oklahoma State's men's golf team will begin its fall schedule this weekend at the Olympia Fields/Fighting Illini Invitational in Olympia Fields, Ill.
The Cowboys, who enter the season ranked No. 1 in the preseason Golf World Coaches' Poll, will be in search of their second title in the four-year history of the event. In 2007, OSU claimed the team crown and former Cowboy Rickie Fowler brought home individual medalist honors.
The 15-team field will begin action at the 54-hole event with 18 holes on Friday before contesting 18 holes on Saturday and Sunday. The Cowboys will begin play at 8:00 a.m. (CST) at the par-70, 7,157-yard layout and will be grouped with Georgia and Augusta State.
Making the trip for the Cowboys will be senior Trent Whitekiller, junior Kevin Tway, sophomores Morgan Hoffmann and Peter Uihlein and freshman Sean Einhaus.
Whitekiller, the lone senior on the Cowboy roster, earned his first collegiate victory last year at the Linger Longer Invitational, while Tway has a pair of NCAA regional titles to his credit.
Hoffmann and Uihlein are coming off a successful weekend after helping the United States win its third consecutive Walker Cup at Merion Golf Club.
Einhaus will be making his first start for the Cowboys after a redshirt year in 2008-09.
