STILLWATER, Okla. - A pair of Oklahoma State special teams standouts were recognized for having elite performances against Houston last Saturday, as Quinn Sharp was honored as the national kickoff specialist performer of the week and Dez Bryant was honored as the national punt return performer of the week by the College Football Performance Awards.
Both Bryant and Sharp have a previous history with the College Football Performance Awards, as Bryant was honored at the end of last season as the wide receiver performer of the year and Sharp was honored as the punter performer of the week after his showing against Georgia on Sept. 5.
Against Houston, Bryant turned the game around with a career-long 82-yard punt return for a touchdown. It was the third punt return touchdown of his career and was the fourth-longest in Oklahoma State history. Sharp kicked off six times against the Cougars, with five of those six kicks resulting in touchbacks.
College Football Performance Awards recipients are selected exclusively based upon objective scientific rankings that show how individual players increase the overall effectiveness of their teams.
