IRVING - Make it two straight Big 12 special teams player of the week awards for Oklahoma State.
Dez Bryant, OSU's junior receiver from Lufkin, Texas, and the reigning Big 12 special teams player of the year, has been named player of the week for his efforts against Houston. He follows teammate Perrish Cox, who was the league's special teams player of the week on Sept. 8 for his performance against Georgia.
Bryant had an 82-yard punt return for a touchdown in the third quarter against Houston as OSU rallied from a 24-7 halftime deficit to take the lead in the game. It was the seventh longest punt return in OSU history. It was also the third punt return for a score in Bryant's career, tying the OSU record shared by Darrent Williams and Barry Sanders.
After two weeks of play, Bryant is second nationally with an average of 37 yards per punt return. He also is averaging more than 20 yards per catch as a receiver. Bryant was a consensus All-American in 2008 as a receiver.
Bryant and Cox have now combined for eight punt/kickoff returns for scores their careers.
