Cowboys Ranked No. 11 In Preseason Coaches' Poll

STILLWATER, Okla. - Oklahoma State's football team will carry a No. 11 ranking into the 2009 season it was announced today with the release of the USA Today preseason coaches' poll.

The Cowboys tallied 861 points in the season's initial ranking. Mississippi checked in at No. 10 with 889 points, while California logged 711 points and is ranked No. 12. Defending national champion Florida topped the poll with 1,466 points.

Entering their fifth season under head coach Mike Gundy, the Cowboys wrapped up the 2008 campaign ranked No. 18 in the coaches' poll after posting a 9-4 record and earning a berth in the Pacific Life Holiday Bowl.

Georgia, which will serve as OSU's season-opening opponent, will begin the year ranked 13th. The Cowboys and Bulldogs will square off Sept. 5 in Stillwater.
