Hunter Named To Watch List

STILLWATER - Oklahoma State junior running back Kendall Hunter, a 2008 first-team All-America selection by the Football Writers Association of America, and the Big 12 Conference's rushing champion from a year ago, has been named to the Doak Walker Award Watch List. The Doak Walker Award is presented annually to the nation's top running back.
Hunter ran for 1,555 yards and 16 touchdowns as a sophomore and for his career averages 6.5 yards per carry. He joins seven other Big 12 running backs on the watch list. Hunter has already accumulated 2,251 career rushing yards.
The Guaranty Bank SMU Athletic Forum Board of Directors will select the semifinalists on Nov. 11, and the Doak Walker Award National Selection Committee will cast votes to determine the finalists, who will be announced on November 23. The committee will cast a second vote beginning on Nov. 30 to determine the recipient. The National Selection Committee consists of former NFL All-Pro and college All-America running backs, media members and selected special representatives.
The recipient of the 2009 Doak Walker Award will be announced live on ESPN on The Home Depot ESPNU College Football Awards on Thursday, Dec. 10. The Doak Walker Award Presentation Banquet will be held at the Hilton Anatole Hotel in Dallas, Texas, on Feb. 19, 2010.
