COLUMBUS, Ohio - Oklahoma State's Rickie Fowler fired a 5-under 66 on Friday during the second round at the Nationwide Tour's Children's Hospital Invitational to grab a share of the lead heading into the weekend.
Fowler, who is competing as an amateur, stands in a three-way tie for first with Joe Daley and Dave Schultz at 7-under 135 at The Ohio State University Scarlet Course.
Fowler went out in 1-under 35 after posting birdies at Nos. 4 and 8 before blistering the back nine with four birdies and five pars for a 31 to move into the top spot on the leaderboard.
Standing one stroke back is former Cowboy All-American Chris Tidland, who finished the day tied with Gavin Coles and Henrik Bjornstad at 136. Tidland fired his second-straight 68 to stay within striking distance at the event's halfway point.
Also competing in the event is sophomore-to-be Morgan Hoffmann, who is on the verge of moving into the top 10. The Wyckoff, N.J., native carded a 69 to move up 17 spots into a tie for 12th place at 2-under 139.
Former Cowboy standout Bob May also moved into the top 20, finishing tied for 19th at 140 after signing for a 69 of his own.
Fowler and Hoffmann earned invitations to the event after being named first-team All-Americans last season.
