CROMWELL, Conn. - The final standings at the PGA Tour's Travelers Championship will show a leaderboard loaded with former Oklahoma State Cowboys as Hunter Mahan, Casey Wittenberg, Scott Verplank and Bo Van Pelt all finished inside the top 10.
Coming off a sixth-place finish at last week's U.S. Open, Mahan continued his impressive play of late, finishing tied for fourth place at 17-under 263. After posting rounds of 66 and 70 to get to the weekend, Mahan fired a 63 on Saturday before closing with a 6-under 64 to move up five spots.
Mahan, who earned his first career victory at the 2007 Travelers Championship, now has four top 10s this season. The former Cowboy All-American also tied for sixth at the Shell Houston Open and tied for 10th at The Masters.
Kenny Perry won the event after firing a 63 to finish with a tournament-record 258 total.
Wittenberg came in one stroke behind Mahan at 264 to tie for seventh. In his first season on the PGA Tour, Wittenberg earned his first top 10 of the season and his first since tying for fourth place at the Viking Classic last season.
Verplank and Van Pelt shared ninth place at 265 after closing rounds of 62 and 67, respectively. Verplank's 62 was one off the course record that he shares.
