STILLWATER - The Oklahoma State football team will open the 2009 season with a pair of televised afternoon home games, the Big 12 Conference has announced.
The season will begin Sept. 5 with a 2:30 p.m. kickoff against the University of Georgia in Boone Pickens Stadium. That game will be televised by ABC.
The following week, Sept. 12, the Cowboys will host Houston in a 2:30 p.m. game that will be televised by Fox Sports Net.
Currently, the only other kickoff time set is the previously announced home finale on Thursday, Nov. 19, when the Cowboys host Colorado at 6:30 p.m.
The Georgia game will be Oklahoma State's sixth straight regular-season contest televised by ABC. Oklahoma State made nine television appearances in 2008, including five in a row on ABC to close the regular season with four of those games in the network's prime-time window.
Georgia will be visiting Stillwater for just the second time and for the first time since 1947. The Bulldogs hold a 3-0 all-time advantage in the brief series. Georgia was 10-3 last season and is one of seven 2009 opponents for the Cowboys who won at least 10 games a year ago.
The Cowboys and Cougars will be meeting for the second straight year after Oklahoma State won the 2008 meeting in Stillwater, 56-37. Houston is coming off an 8-5 season.
