Cowboys Sweep All-Conference Golf Awards

IRVING, Texas - Oklahoma State's men's golf team had five players named to the All-Big 12 squad and swept the league's individual awards it was announced today by the conference office.
Freshman Morgan Hoffmann became the fourth consecutive Cowboy to earn player of the year honors. The Saddle Brook, N.J., native picked up his third victory last week at the Big 12 Championship and is currently ranked No. 1 nationally. Hoffmann was also named the league's top newcomer, marking the second consecutive year and the fourth time in the last five years an OSU player has received the honor.
Cowboy head coach Mike McGraw earned his third-straight coach of the year honor after directing OSU to its third consecutive conference title. The Cowboys have won four team titles overall this season and are currently ranked second in the country.
In the Big 12's 13-year history, OSU has produced nine players of the year, five newcomers of the year as well as six coach of the year honorees.
Joining Hoffmann on the all-conference squad were senior Trent Leon, junior Trent Whitekiller and sophomores Rickie Fowler and Kevin Tway.
Leon has made nine starts on the year, finishing in the top 10 on five occasions. Whitekiller has recorded a pair of top 10s, including his first career win at the Linger Longer Invitational.
Last year's Big 12 Player and Newcomer of the Year, Fowler has finished in the top five on five occasions this year with one victory.
Tway has competed in nine events with his best finish being a third-place showing at the Morris Williams Intercollegiate.
Fowler, Leon and Tway were all named to the squad for the second consecutive year, while Whitekiller was chosen for the first time.
The 2009 All-Big 12 Team was identified using the top 10 highest-ranked student-athletes according to the Golfweek/Sagarin Performance Index following the Big 12 Championship. The player and newcomer of the year are automatically selected as the highest ranked individual from the Golfweek/Sagarin rankings following the conference championship.
