IT'S SOCCER TIME COWGIRL SOCCER FANS!!!
On a drizzly Monday morning, the bus set out on a scenic tour along the southwest coast of Scotland to Ayrshire. Little did we know we were about to run into an optical illusion on the road towards the castle. It was almost like David Copperfield was there! The bus was going uphill while being in neutral... that's at least how it appeared to all of us. But we were actually going downhill. Weird, right?! Scottish ghosts???
Speaking of ghosts... Our main adventure today was the visit of Culzean Castle. After walking through the colorful gardens and taking many scenic shots, we started our tour through the castle. First being greeted by a room full of swords, guns and cannons, it almost made me pee in my pants! In the King's bedroom, our tour guide told us the story of a little girl who claimed to see Lord Thomas, and described his outfit in a portrait to a tee without seeing it...Scottish ghosts...right??!!? So the tour was over and back to our hotel for rest and snacks before our delicious pre-game meal.
OFF TO GLASCOW TRAINING FACILITY!!! (aka...home to the Glasgow-Celtic men's professional futbol team). Can you say COOL?! Cool. We were definitely fired up to play their women's professional team. After a long bus ride of taking a few wrong turns in the middle of some country roads, we finally arrived at the newly built facility! The view from the turf pitch was gorgeous...a castle and mountains in the background. We finally were getting to play our first match of the trip and were more than thrilled having the opportunity of playing at a top team's professional facility.
Being down 1-0 at half, we tied the game up 10 minutes into the second half with a shot by Kyndall, assisted by Whitney. Having many missed opportunities, we unfortunately lost the game 2-1. But it was an extremely well played match played by two talented teams, and it definitely could have gone either way. Afterwards, we were escorted around the inside of the first team's training facility. It was quite an honor and experience!
Ok, well off to bed... shopping in the morning!!! Watch out Glasgow City, the Cowgirl soccer team is coming for you!
