Dietz Hits Regional Mark at Last Day of Texas Relays
April 04, 2009 | Cowgirl Cross Country & Track
AUSTIN, Texas  The Oklahoma State women's track and field team concluded its competition at the 82nd Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays on Saturday, as Merritt Dietz hit an NCAA regional mark in the shot put and the distance medley relay team ran to a seventh place finish.
Dietz's shot put mark of 14.79 meters easily beat her previous season-best mark of 13.82 meters, as well as the regional standard of 14.30 meters. It also qualifies her for a second event at NCAA regional competition, having already hit the discus mark.
The Texas Relays marked the first time Oklahoma State has competed in the distance medley relay this outdoor season, as Kristen Gillespie, Kendra Woodson, Brandi Andrews and Teran Mixon finished in 12:05.60.
The Cowgirls return to action next weekend as they travel to Norman, Okla., for the John Jacobs Invitational.
