Cowgirl Discus Throwers Highlight Second Day at Texas Relays

AUSTIN, Texas  The Oklahoma State women's track and field team finished it's second day of competition at the 82nd Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays on Friday, as the discus throwers provided the highlight of the day.
Merritt Dietz, competing in the A section, and Courtney Gougler, competing in the B section, both hit season-best marks in the discus throw.
Dietz's toss of 53.25 meters bettered her previous best mark of 48.82 meters, already an NCAA regional qualifying mark, and gave her a second-place finish in the A section.
Gougler threw the discus 45. 25 meters, which gave her a ninth-place finish in her section and surpassed her previous season-best mark of 42.64 meters.
The Cowgirls also competed in the triple jump, where Clarissa Andrews and Baiba Blumbaha leapt 12.06 and 11.77 meters, respectively.
Oklahoma State wraps up its competition at the Texas Relays on Saturday as Merritt Dietz throws the shot put and Brandi Andrews, Kristen Gillespie, Teran Mixon and Kendra Woodson run in the distance medley relay.
