Cowgirls Fall to Cyclones, Split Series

Iowa State (21-25, 3-9) was first on the board as Carleigh Berry scored from second in the first inning on a single up the middle by Courtney Wray. The Cyclones added another run in the third as Amanda Bradberry hit a double down the right field line and scored Sydni Jones from first.
The Cowgirls (29-16, 5-8) scored their run in the fifth inning as Julie Ward walked with the bases loaded to score Mariah Gearhart from third.
The Cyclones responded in the bottom of the fifth as Berry and Wray scored on a double into right-center by Alex Johnson to make the score 4-1.
Anna Whiddon started in the circle for Oklahoma State and threw four innings giving up three runs off six hits and striking out two. Sarah Odom came on in relief in the fifth inning and threw two innings giving up one run off two hits, walking one and striking out one. Whiddon receives the loss and falls to 14-11.
Sophomore Rachel Zabriskie was the starting pitcher for the Cyclones and threw a complete game giving up one unearned run off six hits, walking three and striking out five.
The Cowgirls will be back in action on Wednesday when they host Wichita State in Stillwater at 7 p.m.
