April 12, 2009 | Cowgirl Cross Country & Track
AUSTIN, Texas  The Oklahoma State women's track and field team began competition at the Texas Relays on Thursday, as freshman Kendra Woodson ran a personal-best time of 1:02.44 in the 400-meter hurdles and the 4x800-meter relay team finished at sixth place with a time of 9:18.22.
Woodson's time in the 400-meter hurdles bettered her previous by nearly three seconds and was just 1.62 seconds from hitting an NCAA regional qualifying mark.
Coach Rene Sepulveda said Woodson's time is even more impressive considering the strong wind conditions and the fact that this is her first year at the collegiate level.
The 4x800-meter relay team, made up of Kristen Gillespie, Teran Mixon, Brandi Andrews and Heather Estetter, competed in the event for the first time this season.
