Cowgirls Defeat UTEP, Tie Texas Tech In Exhibition Play

LUBBOCK, Texas — Oklahoma State traveled to Lubbock, Texas, for a pair of spring exhibition matches Saturday and emerged with a win and a draw, bringing the Cowgirls' spring record to 2-2-2.
In a hard fought battle against UTEP Saturday morning, the Cowgirls came away victorious by a 2-1 score.
OSU trailed 1-0 at halftime, but in the second half, junior Annika Niemeier was tripped in the penalty box and awarded a penalty kick. Niemeier scored the free kick to make it 1-1. Later in the half, sophomore Katie Richardson scored the winning goal to give the Cowgirls the win.
The Cowgirls also battled Big 12 Conference foe Texas Tech Saturday. OSU outplayed the Red Raiders but could only manage a 1-1 tie. Niemeier continued her strong scoring production this spring with a first half goal assisted by junior Kasey Langdon.
The Cowgirls outshot Texas Tech 10-1 on goal and 25-5 on total shots.
OSU returns to action Saturday, April 4th with home matches against UCO and Missouri State.
