Fratczak, Blumbaha, Dietz Lead Cowgirls At Bobby Lane Invitational

ARLINGTON, Texas – The Oklahoma State women's track and field team competed at the University of Texas-Arlington Bobby Lane Invitational Saturday, with freshman Victoria Fratczak winning the event title in the 5,000 meters and Baiba Blumbaha winning the triple jump to lead the way for the Cowgirls.
Conditions at the meet were not good for the competitors, as temperatures lingered in the low 40s with sustained cold winds that had an effect on times.
That said, the Cowgirls stepped to the fore in the 5,000 meters, where Fratczak led the way with a 17:13.87 and Courtney Schultz placed second in 17:523.37. Leah Schroeder also placed in the top 10, taking eighth with an 18:46.66.
OSU was also strong in the jumps, with Blumbaha winning the triple jump with an NCAA regional qualifying mark of 12.33-meters and teammates Clarissa Andrews (third-11.94 meters) and Mateja Posavec (fourth-11.88 meters) also placing well. In the long jump, Blumbaha placed second with a leap of 5.62 meters and Andrews was fifth with a 5.39-meter mark.
Merritt Dietz also hit an NCAA regional qualifying mark with a 48.82 meter toss in the discus throw to place third in the field Saturday.
