David Named Big 12 Player Of The Week

IRVING, Texas  Oklahoma State sophomore Kevin David has been named the Big 12 Conference Baseball Player of the Week for games played March 9-15, it was announced today.
David, who split time between catcher and first base, led OSU to a 4-2 record last week as he hit .542 (13-for-24) with five doubles, a triple, a home run and 12 RBIs. He also scored five runs, walked seven times and turned in a .958 slugging percentage. He has now hit safely in a career-high eight consecutive games.
During the six-game stretch, David collected multiple hits five times. He helped OSU open the week with a win with a 3-for-5 effort at Arizona in which he blasted his first-career home run and drove in a career-high four. David had RBIs in five of OSU's six games last week, including the four-RBI game against Arizona and three-RBI games against Arizona and Rhode Island.
David's hot hitting raised his batting average nearly 100 points. He entered last week's games hitting .313 and now leads the Cowboys with a .411 average. His nine doubles leads the Big 12.
The player of the week award marks the first in David's career and is the first time this season an OSU player has earned a weekly award from the conference. The Big 12's weekly awards are voted on by a panel of media who cover the conference.
