March 12, 2009 | Cowboy Golf
LAS VEGAS, Nev.ÂOklahoma State's men's golf team will resume its spring schedule on Friday when it begins play at the Southern Highlands Collegiate Championship in Las Vegas.
The third-ranked Cowboys will be one of 15 teams in action at the par-72, 7,510-yard Southern Highlands Golf Club. The 54-hole event will be contested Friday through Sunday with 18 holes being played each day.
Coming off a third-place showing in its spring debut at the Puerto Rico Classic, OSU currently has a pair of players ranked in the top 10 individually in the Golfweek/Sagarin Performance Index. Senior Trent Leon checks in at No. 5 and sophomore Rickie Fowler is the seventh-ranked player in the country.
Joining the duo in the lineup this weekend will be sophomore Kevin Tway, freshman Morgan Hoffmann and redshirt freshman Bernhard Neumann. For Neumann, a native of Bavaria, Germany, the start will be his first for the team in his career. Neumann did get his first collegiate start under his belt last fall, competing individually at the Baylor Intercollegiate.
The Cowboys will tee off at 8:54 a.m. (PST) on Friday and will be paired with Georgia and UNLV. Live scoring for the event will be available at golfstat.com.
