Cowboys In Fifth Place At Puerto Rico Classic

RIO MAR, Puerto RicoÂOklahoma State's men's golf team carded a first-round 286 at the Puerto Rico Classic on Friday at Rio Mar Country Club's River Course to stand in fifth place.
OSU was one of six squads to break par during the opening round and finished the day one shot behind Clemson for fourth place. Georgia Tech grabbed the top spot in the team race with a 280 and stands one shot clear of North Carolina State.
N.C. State's Darren Blair and Texas' Dylan Fritelli each carded 67s to share the individual lead at the par-72, 6,902-yard layout.
Cowboy sophomore Kevin Tway was one of six players to post a 2-under 70 on the day and will begin his second round tied for seventh place.
Senior Trent Leon finished a stroke back with a 71 and tied for 13th place, while Rickie Fowler is among the group tied for 22nd place after signing for a 72.
Freshman Morgan Hoffmann and sophomore Mark Johnson each posted 73s and are tied for 32nd place.
The Cowboys will begin their second round on Saturday at 8 a.m. Sunday's final round will get underway at 7:30 a.m.
