- Robert Matthews is in his third year at Oklahoma State and recently added the title of Director of Recruiting after serving the previous two years as Coordinator of Football Operations. Before arriving in Stillwater, Matthews spent seven years as a high school coach in the state of Georgia.
- In addition to his recruiting responsibilities, he also oversees the walk-on program and handles other internal operations within the football program.
- Prior to coming on board at OSU, Matthews was the head football coach at Shiloh High School in Snellville, Ga. During a three-year stint at Shiloh, he helped guide his team to playoff runs in the state's largest classification and also spearheaded a facilities upgrade that included a new strength center, locker room and coaches offices.
- Before becoming head coach at Shiloh, Matthews served as offensive coordinator at North Gwinnett High School and also had stints at Camden County High School and Oconee County High School.
Personal
- A three-year player at the University of Georgia from 1996-98 and played on teams that won both the Outback Bowl and Peach Bowl. While at Georgia, he was a three-time member of the SEC academic honor roll and obtained a bachelor's degree in exercise science and a master's degree in science education.
- Originally from Duluth, Ga., Matthews was born Nov. 2, 1977. He is married to Oklahoma State women's golf coach Laura Matthews.
