Cowgirls Compete at Sooner Open II

NORMAN, Okla. - The Oklahoma State women's track and field team competed at the Sooner Open II on Saturday in a final tune-up before the Big 12 Indoor Championships next weekend.
Several Cowgirls reached impressive marks throughout the day, including freshman Katie Hamilton, who threw a personal-best 13.59 meters in the shot put.
Merritt Dietz threw the shot as well, finishing in second with a toss of 14.65 meters.
Coach Rene Sepulveda noted that he was pleased with Clarissa Andrews, who leapt a season-best 12.15 meters in the triple jump.
Zivile Pukstiene, Andrews's, as well as the other jumpers' coach at Oklahoma State, also competed unattached in the triple jump, posting an impressive 12.70 meters.
Freshman Courtney and Camille Schultz also competed unattached at the meet, running to first- and second-place finishes with times of 10:22.64 and 10:37.78, respectively, in the 3,000-meter run; their first collegiate indoor race.
Leah Schroeder joined the Schultzs in the race, finishing third with a time of 10:44.95.
Oklahoma State was also represented well in the 1,000-meter run, where Brandi Andrews and Heather Estetter finished in second and third with marks of 3:04.01 and 3:05.94, respectively.
The Cowgirls return to action next weekend, when they compete at the Big 12 Indoor Championships in College Station, Texas.
