Cowboys Picked To Finish Third By Conference Coaches

IRVING, Texas  Oklahoma State was picked to finish in a tie with Baylor for third place in the 2009 Big 12 Conference baseball race in a preseason vote of the league's head coaches, it was announced by the conference office today.
Sixth-year head coach Frank Anderson's Cowboys are coming off a 44-18 season in which they finished second in the conference standings with an 18-9 mark. The second-place finish tied OSU's best-ever in the Big 12. The Cowboys also went 18-9 in 2006 to earn a second-place finish in the league.
Texas A&M, the defending Big 12 regular season champion, was selected as the preseason favorite to once again claim the conference title as the Aggies earned nine of the 10 first-place votes. Texas was tabbed to finish second and received one first-place vote. Coaches were not allowed to vote for their own teams.
OSU opens the 2009 season Friday when the Cowboys host BYU at Allie P. Reynolds Stadium.
