STILLWATER, Okla. – Oklahoma State soccer player AD Franch is one of six athletes featured in the “Faces In The Crowd” section of the Nov. 23 issue of Sports Illustrated.
Franch appears on page 28 of the issue (SI's 2009 College Basketball preview issue) and also online at www.si.com/faces.
A native of Salina, Kan., Franch was nominated for “Faces In The Crowd” following her performance at the Big 12 Soccer Championship earlier this month in San Antonio. The freshman goalie helped lead OSU to the tourney title by racking up 16 saves in three games, including a seven-save performance in the Cowgirls' 1-0 win against Texas A&M in the title game.
Franch recorded shutouts in two of the Cowgirls' three games in San Antonio and was named to the All-Tournament Team.
An All-Big 12 First Team performer in her first collegiate season, Franch set a school record with 11 shutouts and leads the Big 12 with a 0.61 goals against average (also an OSU record) and an .843 save percentage.
Franch is the second Cowgirl soccer player to appear in SI's “Faces in the Crowd.” Former standout Yolanda Odenyo was in the Dec. 8, 2008 issue.
