Stillwater, Okla. -- Join the Oklahoma State University Student Athlete Advisory Council in its effort to "Can Texas Tech" Saturday at the OSU vs. Texas Tech football game.
During The Walk prior to the game, the S.A.A.C will follow the football team and collect canned goods from the crowd for donation to the United Way. Any non-perishable items are acceptable, as are cash donations. Additionally, student athletes will be collecting in the POSSE parking lots across campus right up until kickoff. The Walk begins at 4:45 p.m. and runs between the Student Union and Boone Pickens Stadium.
"This is part of our effort to get S.A.A.C more involved in the community," says Erin Prutow, president of S.A.A.C. "Can Tech is our first major fundraising effort this year and we are really excited about its potential to make a difference in the community . We teamed up with the United Way because we wanted the work we do to directly benefit the community, all of our proceeds go to the Payne County Food Drive."
"This is going to be a great event to increase awareness of the organization to campus, the community and cowboys fans. SAAC is definitely in a rebuilding stage this year and "Can Tech" in addition to the distribution of Thanksgiving Baskets for the less fortunate families in Stillwater are just the beginning for athletes who want to get involved and make a difference."
The Student-Athlete Advisory Council (SAAC) is comprised of two team representatives from all OSU sport teams and meets every other week during the fall and spring semesters. SAAC is the student-athletes' voice with athletic administration and campus faculty regarding any concerns the student-athletes may have. SAAC also sponsors many volunteer activities during the school year and represents the very best of the OSU student-athlete population.
