LONG BEACH, Calif. – Oklahoma State freshmen AD Franch and Carson Michalowski have been named to TopDrawerSoccer.com All-Rookie Teams, with Franch earning first-team honors and Michalowski being named to the second team.
Franch, a goalkeeper from Salina, Kan., set the school record for shutouts this season and enters the NCAA Women's Soccer Championship with 10 shutouts in 21 games. She also started in goal in OSU's three other shutouts this season, with the 13 shutouts also setting a school record.
The Big 12 Conference leader in shutouts, goals against average (0.63) and save percentage (.837), Franch has racked up 67 saves on the season. She was named the All-Big 12 First Team goalie and to the Big 12 All-Newcomer Team, and she earned a spot on the Big 12 Soccer Championship All-Tournament Team after recording a pair of shutouts in helping OSU to three wins and the tournament title.
Michalowski is a key part of an OSU defense that has notched a school-record 13 shutouts and allowed just 15 goals on the season. During OSU's current eight-game winning streak, the Cowgirls have allowed only three goals.
A freshman from Plano, Texas, Michalowski has started all 22 games at defender for the Cowgirls this season. She has three goals, including netting the game winner in OSU's 1-0 victory over Texas A&M to help the Cowgirls claim the Big 12 Soccer Championship crown.
